Twyford

Twyford &
South Downs National Park

Twyford is located some three miles south of Winchester and is a village of around 1,200 inhabitants, set within the western edge of the South Downs National Park. The unspoilt surrounding countryside offers extensive opportunities for walking on the Downs, or along the banks of the River Itchen.

The village is a thriving community that centres on Twyford Stores selling just about everything, and which also has its own coffee-shop and restaurant. There are two great pubs, the Phoenix Inn with a great village atmosphere and skittle alley, and The Bugle which offers gastro-pub dining of exceptional quality. The Dove Clinic is on the edge of village and is widely recognised as a leading centre of integrated medicine.

Twyford is an ideal touring base, being within 5 minutes drive of the M3 at Junction 11; with good transport links with regular bus services to Winchester, and the rail station at Shawford a 10-15 minute walk away.
